Be the change in the world
This course aims to help you to become global citizens by encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, active reflection, and self-determined action against injustices. Through exploring various global issues, you will develop a more informed understanding and discover that global issues are connected.
The ultimate goal of the course is for you to see how you can take action or make changes in your daily lives that affect positive change and challenge injustice. You will need to be an active member of the class and your group: doing the homework, researching the areas that you do not know and supporting each other. We will use Edmodo and Twitter in this course. Final Project
As we know, many global and local issues are connected, they are glocal. For your final project, you will use all the skills you have learned by researching and presenting your findings on one of the following: 1) The connections between two or more of the issues we have covered; 2) Charting Japanese involvement in one of the issues; or 3) Exploring another issue in detail and sharing it with the class. Use the Matrix to keep track of your notes. |
